Sam Haverinen: Snowsports and Rockclimbing Instuctor.
Town of Residence: South Paris, Maine.
"Climbing up mountains to slide back down them," is how Sam is likely to respond when asked what his interests are. Intertest in climbing started as a way to access expert ski terrain, for the lead instructor of the Oxford Hills Rock Climbing Club. Telemark and alpine skiing along with snowboarding are disciplines Sam instructs at Sunday River's Ski School. He can often be spotted in the winter running up the slopes with his bindingless snow-skateboard so he can enjoy the surfing like motion of travel before and after the lifts are running. In snowless months you may find him running an alpine trail, scouting some boulders in the forests or scaling a nearby cliff.
Non-athletic interests: Naturalism, environmental science, music.
